Harriet Tubman
Author:
George Sullivan
#
of Pages:1-25
Quote
:"I should fight for my liberty as long as my strength lasted,
and when the time came for me to go,the lord would let them take me.
Reaction:
I feel that her words inspired many people including herself to
believe that she is a brave and independent woman that fights her own battles
and doesn't need anyone to tell her what to do, or how to do so.She inspires many
women today and she did a century ago to stand up for what they believe in,for instance,
just like Harriet wanted to be free she made happen here and all around the world. Now no
one may tell us to not fight for what we believe in or to not live our dreams the way we want to
.

Quote: After Harriet's head injury, there was a left over fresh wound that
stayed and left a deep scar. Then, she felt better she kept falling asleep on and off and in all of
her dreams five significant words kept repeating every time,"
Arise, flee for
your life.
"
Reaction:I feel that she wasn't thinking of escaping and becoming a fugitive until she
was bothered by her conscience and then she wanted to be freed instantly so that she
may live her live normally and without any conflicts bothering her life.Harriet had her scar
from her injury with the heavy lead weight being thrown at her head by a slave owner after
it missed the slave that ran away and she fell while the slave owner carelessly went after the
runaway slave leaving Harriet unconscious with blood pouring out of her really deep wound. When
she was carried back to her parents' cabin she remained laying still in a coma for many days and her
mom worried if she would still be able to live. Then, she recovered and her wound healed, but still leaving
a deep scar on her forehead. Just a few weeks after her recovery Harriet was sold to a woman who needed a
babysitter, but Harriet hated housework and during the night shifts she would always fall asleep and the words
"
Arise,flee for your life,"
and after that she new she needed to escape without the owners or the authorities finding
out.

Quote: Even though their marriage has ended she carried his name
for the rest of her life. She was deeply saddened when years later she
heard of his death.
Reaction: I feel that she deeply loved someone for a long time, but then she wanted
to live in freedom and he didn't come along so she went on by herself for 2 years to
become an Underground Railroad conductor. Then, when she finally decides to come back
for him (after 2 years without seeing) so she can take him along with her to their freedom, but
instead she knocks on the door and finds him with another woman by the fireplace and then John
(her ex-husband)states that "This is Caroline, she's my wife now, I'm not going North or any other place."
After that, she never saw him again, but she kept thinking of him. Then, years later she was very sad when she
had heard of his death. She was really hurt, but then continued her duty to provide freedom to all the other slaves.

Quote: "
God is ahead of Mr.Lincoln,
"
Harriet said
"
God won't let Mister Lincoln
beat the South until he does the right thing."
Reaction: I feel that what she said inspired those people to know what the right thing is to do ,
and they all probably felt that she was right and that they should not let Mr.Lincoln beat the South
until he should do the right thing to set the slaves free that's what Harriet thought and she was hoping
to let the slaves go as soon as possible.

Quote:"
Yes ladies, Harriet began,
"
I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight
years, and I can say what most conductors
can't say- I never ran my train off the track and I never
lost a passenger.
"
Reaction: I feel that she was proud to accomplish those things and I think the women that she
told the story to thought she was a big encouragement to them and maybe their children or grand
children or maybe even themselves to do something really helpful and fulfilling like Harriet Tubman did
herself over a century ago. They would all do it for Harriet Tubman
:An Inspiration
to many people all around
the entire world!

Stuart Little
Author:

# of Pages:1-25
Quote:
Mrs.little saw right away that the infant clothes she had provided
were unsuitable, and made him a fine blue worsted suit with patch pockets
in which he could keep his handkerchief, his money, and his keys.
Reaction: I feel that Mrs.Little cares about Stuart a lot and hopes he has the
best time living with them. She wants Stuart to see that even though he's a mouse
he still has the same abilities as humans. To show that she cares about Stuart she has
made him a nice worsted suit so he can have warmth and so Stuart can have an easier life
with handy pockets for his useful and or not useful materials.
